Curatorial Essay
Foggy Morning in Tibet belongs to Beyond the Inside, a series in which landscape is understood not as geography but as an event of perception. Rather than describing a specific place, the painting explores the quiet emergence of space within consciousness, where atmosphere gradually becomes structure and observation becomes experience.
The title functions as a poetic point of departure rather than a geographical reference. Tibet evokes a condition of distance, openness and contemplative awareness, while fog suggests the moment before forms fully reveal themselves. Together they create an interval in which perception remains fluid, allowing the image to unfold without becoming fixed.
Translucent layers, luminous passages and gestural rhythms accumulate across the surface with deliberate restraint. Forms emerge only provisionally before dissolving again into transparent veils, preserving the painting’s openness while encouraging sustained observation. The composition resists immediate recognition in favour of gradual discovery.
Within Ovidiu Kloșka’s artistic practice, beauty emerges through improbable configurations that gradually achieve an inevitable internal coherence. Colour, transparency, rhythm, gesture and material evolve together until the painting discovers its own equilibrium. Rather than illustrating a landscape, the work reveals how perception itself slowly organizes visual experience.
Space unfolds through subtle chromatic transitions instead of linear perspective. Light originates from within the material surface, gently revealing relationships that remain inseparable from areas of quiet opacity. The resulting atmosphere is neither descriptive nor symbolic but perceptual, inviting viewers to inhabit the painting rather than simply observe it.
Extended contemplation continually reveals new dialogues between transparent veils, textured passages and luminous intervals. The image transforms with each return, demonstrating that perception remains an active and evolving process rather than a fixed act of recognition.
Foggy Morning in Tibet reflects the central concerns of Beyond the Inside, where abstraction becomes a means of exploring the architecture of inner perception and the gradual emergence of coherence from uncertainty.
