Curatorial Essay
The Slow Explosion of Stillness belongs to Kafkaesque Eternity with Flowers at 7 pm, a series in which the traditional still life becomes a meditation on time, silence and imperceptible transformation. Here, stillness is not understood as the absence of movement but as a condition in which countless invisible changes unfold beneath the surface.
The composition develops through successive layers of colour, translucent veils and expressive gestures that accumulate like geological deposits of lived experience. A vase gradually emerges before dissolving again into an atmosphere where flowers become vibrations, traces and fleeting memories rather than stable botanical forms. The image remains suspended between appearance and disappearance, inviting prolonged contemplation.
Within Ovidiu Kloșka’s artistic practice, beauty is discovered through improbable configurations that gradually achieve an unexpected internal coherence. Rhythm, transparency, colour, gesture and texture interact intuitively until the painting reveals relationships that could never have been planned in advance. The still life is transformed from an object of observation into an event of perception.
The title introduces a deliberate paradox. The explosion is neither violent nor instantaneous; it unfolds almost imperceptibly through the continuous accumulation of subtle pictorial decisions. Every brushstroke expands the emotional field of the work, allowing silence itself to become dynamic. Time is experienced not through dramatic events but through gradual metamorphosis.
As part of Kafkaesque Eternity with Flowers at 7 pm, The Slow Explosion of Stillness proposes that eternity is woven from innumerable quiet transformations. Painting becomes a place where matter remembers, flowers outlive their own fragility and stillness reveals itself as the deepest form of movement.
