There is a moment when autumn has not yet arrived, but summer has already begun to withdraw, and the light acquires a different depth, as if the world were quietly remembering a colour it is about to lose. Weightlessness in Early Autumn seems to emerge from precisely this suspended moment, where matter becomes uncertain of its own weight and forms drift between appearance and disappearance.

The painting does not describe an autumn landscape. It does something more elusive: it allows autumn to become a condition of being. Colours gather, dissolve and reappear through layers of translucent atmosphere, while darker passages seem to carry the weight of something remembered but no longer fully accessible. Ochres, oranges and muted greens introduce a fragile sense of organic life, while violets, blues and smoky blacks pull the image toward another, more interior space.

Nothing remains completely fixed.

A form appears, and then begins to dissolve. A gesture suggests something almost recognisable, only to retreat into the surrounding atmosphere. The eye searches for an image, but the painting continuously replaces recognition with sensation.

This is where the work enters the territory of Mindscape — a space where painting does not reproduce the visible world, but seems to remember a world that may never have existed in quite the form we imagine.
