Curatorial Essay

Residual Quiet belongs to Beyond the Inside, a series investigating the gradual emergence of perception through painting. Rather than describing the external world, these works construct interior spaces where light, material and gesture slowly organize themselves into states of awareness. The painting unfolds not as an image of silence, but as silence becoming visible.

Subtle layers of mineral greens, muted ochres, soft greys and luminous whites accumulate across the surface, creating an atmosphere that appears to breathe between solidity and transparency. Textures emerge through successive deposits, erasures and delicate shifts of tone, allowing the composition to evolve organically rather than through predetermined structure. Every mark preserves the memory of an earlier gesture while opening the possibility of another.

Within Ovidiu Kloșka’s artistic practice, beauty is discovered through improbable configurations that gradually achieve an unexpected internal coherence. Rhythm, transparency, colour, gesture and material interact intuitively until hidden relationships reveal themselves naturally. The painting does not illustrate an idea; it becomes the place where perception itself slowly comes into existence.

The title suggests the presence of something that remains after movement has subsided. Quiet is understood not as emptiness but as an active state in which perception becomes more attentive and subtle relationships begin to emerge.
