The title suggests mystery without requiring explanation. The flower remains recognisable while simultaneously escaping precise definition, occupying the subtle interval between observation and remembrance. It is less an object than a presence that slowly unfolds through prolonged attention.

Soft whites, muted greys, deep burgundy passages and translucent layers create a surface that evolves gradually. Gestural marks resemble fragments of forgotten calligraphy, allowing the painting to preserve the rhythm of its making while avoiding descriptive representation.
